About this Artist

Freedy Johnston

Kansas native Freedy Johnston came to New York in the late 1980s to pursue a career as a singer/songwriter, signing with indie label Bar None. His second album for them, 1992's CAN YOU FLY, was critically lauded as a masterpiece of sophisticated songcraft, and won him a major-label deal. Johnston's Elektra debut, THIS PERFECT WORLD, fulfilled the promise of its predecessor and gained a wider audience for the reedy-voiced singer-songwriter with the elliptical lyrics and undeniable pop hooks. He's remained a consistently satisfying artist ever since.
