About this Artist

Dave Edmunds

British rocker Dave Edmunds began his career in the 1960s with the psychedelic-era band Love Sculpture. His solo career, which embraced an American roots-oriented sensibility encapsulating rockabilly, soul, and R&B, kicked off with a cover of Fats Domino's "I Hear You Knockin'" that became an international hit in 1971. In addition to maintaining a healthy solo career, he laid the groundwork for pub-rock, new wave, and even the rockabilly revival, by producing Brinsley Schwarz, Dr. Feelgood, Ducks Deluxe, Squeeze, Nick Lowe, and the Stray Cats. His collaboration with Lowe in the short-lived supergroup Rockpile remains one of British rock's finest hours.
