About this Artist
Ash Ra TempelA key band in Germany's Krautrock movement, Ash Ra Tempel was formed by Manuel Gottsching and ambient pioneer Klaus Schulze in the early '70s. The band's earliest efforts were marked by an epic blend of psychedelic guitar choogle and spacey atmospherics. Though Schulze had left the group by 1973 to further concentrate on what would become a remarkably prolific solo career, Gottsching continued on with Ash Ra Tempel, later changing the outfit's name to Ashra and following Schulze into more ambient New Age realms. The two joined forces again in 2000 for the Ash Ra Tempel reunion album FRIENDSHIP. Definitive Albums
