About this Artist

Andrew W.K.

As rock & roll's visionary party animal, Andrew W.K. elevated headbanging to the level of the sublime with tracks such as "Party 'til You Puke" and "Party Hard." W.K. (Wilkes-Krier) had been recording for years prior to his breakthrough full-length, 2001's I GET WET. Brimming with the most basic and infectious elements of heavy metal, punk, and pop, and equipped with some of the most giddily stupid lyrics imaginable, the album posited W.K. as either the idiot savant of hard rock or a wry conceptualist offering up brilliantly tongue-in-cheek anthems. Given W.K.'s association with avant-garde acts such as Sightings, Wolf Eyes, and To Live and Shave in L.A., the reality is probably closer to the latter. The 2006 release THE WOLF found W.K. moving in a slightly more mature yet no less bombastic direction.
